Susan Caldwell Nelson, a Wisconsin native, has been active in church music since around the time of Apollo 11.  She moved to the east coast in 1986 to become an assistant conductor at New York City Opera, a position she held until the company closed several years ago.  She has been a member of the opera faculty and a vocal coach at Mannes School of Music in New York City since 1998.  Susan served for many years as organist and director of music at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Westfield.  She holds degrees from St. Olaf College, the University of Georgia, and the University of Michigan.
