God walks with us - every step of the way.

At CAPC, we are guided by Jesus' call to love God with our entire being and to love our neighbor as ourself. All that we are and have is a gfit from God. We know God walks with us always. God rejoices with us in good times and, when tragedy strikes, God's heart is the first to break. We encourage each other to live more fully into God's love through the classical spiritual disciplines of worship, stewardship, regular prayer, studying and meditating on scripture and reflecting on God's mercy and grace in our lives. In these and other areas, we join with other Presbyterians in embracing the tenets of reformed faith.

The measure of our faith is how we live.

Christ tells us in Matthew 25 to treat "the least" in our society as we would Christ himself. At CAPC, this motivates us to move beyond words and to put our faith into action. We work together to show God's love to our neighbors, especially those in need. We work for peace and justice for the marginalized. We engage in mission among the homeless, the poor, the hungry, the unemployed and those suffering from illness and disease, whether they are lying on our doorstep in Plainfield, or in shelters in New Orleans, or in other countries and continents.

Everyone is included.

Our call to justice work also means that we welcome all persons into our fellowship without regard to race, class, gender, ability, sexual orientation, previous church experience or any other artificial division of the true Body of Christ.

We believe God welcomes all persons.

All persons are welcome at Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church in Plainfield, New Jersey.

The Great Commandment

Just then a lawyer stood up to test Jesus. ‘Teacher,’ he said, ‘what must I do to inherit eternal life?’ Jesus said to him, ‘What is written in the law? What do you read there?’ The lawyer answered, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbour as yourself.’ And Jesus said to him, ‘You have given the right answer" - Luke 10:25-28a
